VPN server behind DSL-500

Hi there

I have a Cisco PIX 501 setup at VPN server running behind a Dlink DSL-500 router/modem. The IP address on the DSL500 under DMZ setting is the IP address of the PIX.
I can not get connection to the PIX, get message "Failed to establish a secure connection to the security gateway".
Turned the debug on on the PIX and no VPN packets are arriving. So there must be something more I need to do on the DSL500.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
