IS-IT--Management
Scenario:
Multiple locations, Most router to router, some software client connections. No server at any location. Need to provide folder permissions that will work. Native win98 permissions are useless. Some XP Home Machines in the mix.
What is the best, and least expensive way to secure folder access on both ends of this type of VPN, when neither end has a server, just a router, and a bunch of different MS Operating systems at all connecting ends. This company does not want to install a server at each location to handle folder permissions and security. I need another solution that actually works.
I'm finding this scenario to be more and more common now that these inexpensive routers, VPN or otherwise are being used to impliment inexpensive (Workgroup) type small company networks instead of putting in an actual server.
So the solution will probably be handy for alot of us.
Thanks all for any help you can give.
