VPN Security Issues

As great as VPN seems to be, what are some security issues that admins should be taking in to consideration when implementint it as a solution???

We are looking at setting up a VPN server over a DSL line w/ static IP to a firewall that port forwards to our VPN server. Anyone have any ideas to how secure this will be???
