I'm quoting out a IPO v6 system and thinking about putting 96xx phones for the remote phones. I have done a few 5621 systems with remote phones to a PIX 500 cisco's.

Question is, seems everyone is using Netgear FVS338 these days. Is this the golden standard for the vpn remote phones on Avaya? I have a dd-wrt router onsite which has pptps server and openVPN but not sure I want to mess with trying to get the Avaya working with it. I remember spending days trying to get the PIX to work the first time :).

So just wondering if the Netgear is the way to go? Also, does anyone have any expierence with using the 96xx phones with VPN? Do they work as well as the 5621's do?

You wont find a Netgear profile on the phone although many hear have no issues.

If you know Cisco, stick to it.

ASA 5505 is your PIX 500 replacement.
