I've gotten to the point where I can connect to the network in my workplace from my home computer via VPN. Everything appears to working fine (connection, authentication, two flashing monitors in taskbar, etc) until I go to browse the network. When I view it through 'My Network Places' and then 'Entire Network'.. I have 3 options: Terminal Services, Windows Network, and Client Network. I select the Windows Network and procede to 'CompLAN' (the workgroup name), but the only machine that I see is mine. Does anyone know why even though the connection seems just fine (getting traffic sent/received), I can't see the machines on the LAN in my workplace? All of the machines on the LAN are a part of the 'CompLAN' workgroup. Thanks in advance.

Hi..hope you have been able to get a solution for resolving the VPN connection for the computers. I am somewhat in the similar situation, where i am able to get authenticated and connected to the VPN server. The question comes here what else do i need to do to get my laptop see the network drive of the server. Basically after connecting have no clue what to do next. If you have been able to find any solution in respect to your posted query..would appreciate if you could share it and guide me in using VPN.

Thanks
MJ

This problem has been discussed many times here. The problem is usually that the Microsoft RAS service in Windows server 2000/2003 has been configured solely as a VPN server. For you to be able to also browse the network, RAS must be confugured for VPN and ROUTING. Routing is necessary for the VPN tunnel to connect to the network. If routing is not applied, the packets have nowhere to go.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. Can you pls elaborate a bit more as in how would i be able to do the required Routing? I am not very familiar with RAS and W2k server.

Regards,
