My company is planning to use VPN to connector 3 sites as follow:

Site A: Root domain 2000 AD, Exchange 5.5 (soon will be 2000) SQL & intranet site/application. 1 sonicwall, support IPsec passthru (5 servers)

Site B: Sub domain B 2000 AD, same firewall. 7 Users for Exchange service (RPC not internet mail)& intranet(8 computers inculding servers)

Site C:Sub domain C 2000 AD, no firewall. 5 users for Exchange service (RPC not internet mail)& intranet(8 computers inculding servers)

All DSL lines, looking for the best(easiest) way to configure Win2K vpn for Site B & C to connect to Main site. with almost no knowledge on PPTP/IPsec

Please give me some ideas.

Thank you very much in advance.

Game over is what you might say after running this VPN over DSL. Our company has a DSL line that runs 1.5/128 I have VPN setup for users to come in remotely and it is slow. I guess the 128 out with the encryption is just to much. I am not going to say it wont work but if its like my connections it will be very slow. (I just looked at SWbells site and they are now starting to offer Symmetric DSL. If you can get that you might be able to get by.

So how much info are you looking for are you needing directions on how to setup RRAS on the win2k servers?

Shender944 is right. We need a little more info. Have you started and are having problems, or don't know where to begin at all. If the latter, you might want to hire the job out. I think if you don't have the skills, you'll make yourself crazy. I've recieved certification from MS on the W2K OS, plus I've taken the classes for Implementing and Administiring a Windows 2000 Network Infrastructure, and I wouldn't touch it without a consultant helping me. I agree it could get complicated. You might want to start looking at Sonicwall since you already have some. If you can create the VPNs with those it might save you some hassle/expense. I have a small Sonicwall firewall/VPN appliance at a small remote office (not familiar with their whole product line) that I use to create a tunnel back to the home office for Exchange email/intranet type connection. Connects to another vendors box. Speed depends on what you are sending/want to send over the VPN and the speed of the line and the speed between the sites and so on. Plan on doing the capacity planning BEFORE you go too far down the line or you are asking for trouble. I have some VPNs that are 384 SDSL and are faster to the central site than the 768 SDSL site in another part of the USA. My slowest line speed is the 384 upstream. I haven't tried it with 128- thank you lord...

Depending on DSL to always provide good service can be tricky though!!!
