IPO 8.1 with 9630G and 9640 both remote using VPN. Each works well but they cannot talk to each other. When one calls the other the phone rings but no audio. If they create a conference all works fine. Direct Media Path is checked on both. Other IP phones work fine the problem is only VPN phone to VPN phone.

Is this maybe a firewall issue? [ponder]

do you use direct media path for both?
If you do you need to make sure that there is a route in your network to actually enable the two phones to connect, aka send voice packets

Give a tech a solution and he will be back tomorrow to ask you the next question, teach a tech how to read the manual and he will be able to solve the problems for a life time.

Try to uncheck Direct Media Path, as both phones are on a different subnet and therefore have no direct IP connection to each other. If Direct Media is unchecked, the audio will run via the IPO, which has an OK audio connection to both phones, so I think the audio will work between the phones as wel.

I unchecked the Direct Media on both and they work fine. I won't know if the office IP phones have been effected but I doubt it. Thanks for the advise. [glasses]

The office phones should be fine because that is only 2 networks connected not 3 with only 1 network as common ground.

Remote worker of VPN phones should never have direct media path turned on because of these kind of issues.
The problem is that you cannot route the traffic properly.
By turning DMP off the IPOffice takes care of this (it has IP routes configured for this)

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!
