Hello
My Cisco Vpn Client ver 3.64 works great while I am connected to my Router/WAP however when I put the wireless card into the machine and attempt to use the VPN over the wireless connection it does not work....

WHY is this and what can I do to fix it.
the Card is wpc11 and the access point has the newest frimware and drivers for win2000.

Is this fixable?

Or am I Tethered forever...that makes wirless no fun....

PLEASE HELP IF YOU CAN....

The WPC11 Version 4 will not work with current drivers.
The WPC11 Version 3 will.

SO is there a way to flash the card back to the older version that will work. If so How

Next questions whos JUNK to be nice can I purchase so this will work.

You misunderstood me.

The WPC11 has over time been released as Version 1, Version 2.5, Version 3 and Version 4.

In each case the chipset is different, and consequently the firmware and drivers are different.

I have heard of cases of flashing the firmware on the 2.5 card, but this is decidedly non-trivial.

Try the Orinoci Gold, the Cisco 340 or Cisco 350. Your Version 4 at least at the moment will not work and there is no magic fix I can think of to give you.

BTW, what wireless router and version number do you have?

BEFW11S4

I think I will double check later

do you know what causes the linksys not to work...
I want to ask the right questions when I look int purchasing these other cards so I dont make the same mistake again

It was a problem with Ipsec in the driver, PPTP worked fine.

There are beta releases of the new driver set around. Look here for a much more extensive discussion and there may be some light at the end of the tunnel for you:
Ask your question on the Linksys Forum of broadbandreports.com, and on Tek-Tips in the VPN Forum as there are guys who eat this stuff for breakfast there: forum463 is unlikely that the sales clerk would be able to answer the question for you.

I'm curious if you tried the beta driver and whether it worked: ftp://ftp.linksys.com/beta/wpc11v4_061303.zip

Reports are that the beta drivers fix the Ipsec tunneling problem.

No I have not yet tryed that.. but thanks for the info
