Can NT 4.0 establsih a VPN using a domain instead of an IP address? Not sure if this can be done, but for technical reasons it would save a lot of headaches.

I am with a cable ISP that will not issue a static IP address, and through some great help here in the forums have discovered DynIP (dynip.com) which will issue a domain name for servers with a changing IP address.

If anyone knows of a way to establish a VPN without a static IP address, you will have a fan for life.

If you mean allowing a client to connect up to a NT 4.0 server via VPN. configure RAS on the server, enable vpn and set permissions. forward vpn pass thru to your server through your router( if you have one)[ports 47 and 1723].

You will have to use dynamic name services from DYNU, TZO, or anyother vendor. This will map your dynamic ip to a host name.

On the client side use the host name instead of the ip address in your vpn config.

Other than using the service or writing a personal script that is similiar to the service. NO
