Hi,

I have setup a Win200 Server with VPN capability which is located behind a firewall. I have enabled GRE + 1723 port for VPN. Using Win2000 Pro, i can perform VPN either from our internal network or via Dialup.

When i use Windows 98 or NT 4.0 or 95... i have error trying to connect. It stops at the "Verifying Username & Password" from either dialup or outside the firewall. BUT i have no problem connecting using Win 98 machine if I do VPN behind the firewall meaning internal LAN.

By looking at my firewall log's, i can see it went through on those ports but my VPN connections still wouldnt connect. My question is does 95/98 and NT4.0 requires WINS to work publicly for the authentication?? I'm just guessing. Secondly, do i need to used NAT for my firewall and why??

Anyone can please let me know how can i configure for Win'x machines to work? Appreciate a lot..

BTW, i have installed all patches and adapter that i can find in Microsoft Download center for Win'X machines.. including the new DUN1.4 version updates.

cheers
