VPN not connecting through Speedstream 2326 router/wireless network

I have a Speedstream 2326 router with wireless access point connected to a DSL modem. I can access the internet via my Windows 98 wireless client through the router, but when I attempt to connect to my company's VPN, I get error 629--"you have been disconnected from the computer you dialed..." It worked fine when I was connecting directly to the DSL modem.
Any ideas on how to solve?
