I can't get a VPN connection to work so i can access files on the server through vodafone 3g. I've basically been told that i need to allow NAT traversal as they use PAT.

I’ve got a Symantec Firewall/VPN 200r appliance and a windows 2003 server with two network cards. The Symantec appliance can’t use it’s own client software through Vodafone 3g so I’ve configured it to forward data on the PPTP port to the address 10.20.1.2. This is the address for a network card on the server. This is set up as follows: ip 10.20.1.2 subnet 255.255.255.0 default gateway 10.20.1.1 DNS 10.20.1.1. The Symantec appliance is set up as 10.20.1.1 with the internet settings supplied by my ISP. The other network card to the network is set up as follows: ip 192.168.0.1 subnet 255.255.255.0 default gateway (empty) dns 10.20.1.2.

The windows server doesn’t have DHCP or DNS setup. So when configuring routing and remote access I selected VPN & NAT and disabled the firewall option. I set it up to use a static address pool between 192.168.0.2 and 192.168.0.255.

After set up I set the NAT to auto assign addresses in 192.168.0.0 mask 255.255.255.0 and excluded address 192.168.0.1. I also selected clients using dns in resolve ip address for.

I can connect to the vpn but cant access files or ping anything.
