VPN keeps dropping

I have a WRT54G and the VPN connection to my office keeps dropping. I thought it was a wireless issue so I ran CAT5 cable to the box and used one of the hard wire ports in the back to connect to my laptop. It doesn't happen as often but I'm still experiencing the VPN dropping out. Is it possible that there are settings in the WRT54G that are causing my trouble?
