VPN Issues

Hey all,

More problems! We are running a VPN between two sites, both ends have a Bordermanager 3.8 firewall running with the VPN modules setup. The VPN connects and works fine, the problem is that we have trouble maintaining the connection.

The connection is very intermittent, we end up with a full connection for 5 minutes sometimes, and 2 hours the next.

The link itself is quite slow but when its connected, it seems to work fine. We have tried changing the IKE Retransmit Timeout to 60 seconds, then 300 seconds (from default of 5) - this seems to have done nothing and we will set it back to 5 for now.

I have read in the FAQ about using traffic rules to get around all the traffic being encrypted when this isnt needed, can anyone give me an example?

If anyone has any ideas please let me know.

Personally I hate BorderManager and tear it out every chance I get. Hard to find support. You probably need to look up Craig Johnson, he's the guru on BorderManager and probably one of very few people that can help.
