I am using the Microsoft VPN PPTP. I can connect to the VPN but when trying to bring up Outlook it keeps requesting informaion from the Exchange server. The size of the mailbox is not very big. I cannot surf the internet once inside the VPN however if I go to the VPN properties and unselect the Use Default Gateway on Remote Network option I can surf fine. When I have it selected I get an ip address on my internal network but the subnet is different it is 255.255.255.255 and when inide the network at work it is 255.255.252.0. Also the default gateway given while VPNing in is the same as the ip address. Is this normal?

Yes, as far as the routing and addressing. I can't help with the Outlook issue, though. If you are working in online mode, there will be fairly constant outlook<->exchange communication, I'd think.
