Hi there. I'm having a bit of grief with a VPN running over ADSL, it's a new installation and the issue would appear to be routing. The primary site is a firm that we recently acquired and has an existing network where all workstations are connected to a D-Link modem/router/switch. I have connected the new Linksys router to this switch and attached a new Win2k server. At the secondary site I have attached the router to our network and configured the VPN tunnel to match the primary site. The VPN tunnel itself is created without any problems.
Now from my workstation at the secondary site I can access the root of the new server I installed at the primary site (\\10.0.0.190\c$) but I cannot connect to it using RDC or VNC. I cannot connect to any of the other network devices at the primary site. Now if I plug a laptop directly into the router at the primary site I can access any of the network devices without a hitch, the issue is simply when connecting over the VPN.
I have checked firewalls, NAT and forwarding rules (made no different specifying RDC/VPN ports) and can't see any problem here at either end. I have tried creating a static route but that made little difference. I'm running out of ideas so if anyone has any suggestions on what I might have missed I would much appreciate your input.
I am most baffled that I am can access the new server attached to the remote router but only directly to the root and not to any other devices.
Thank you in advance.
Russell.
Carlsberg don't run I.T departments, but if they did they'd probably be more fun.
