I know when you run VPN on a 2K server to allow incoming connections it enables a packet filter to prevent all other traffic, including outgoing web requests and incoming requests to specific ports that have already been opened (i.e 21 for ftp). I read an article once explaining how to dissable the packet filter to allow both but cannot find it any where, any one know how to do this. Microsoft reference this here under the (Figure 1 Enabling VPN on the Server ) by saying you may not want to enable the packet filter but they don't tell you how to disable it !!

Many Thanks

Dave.

It depends what kind of VPN are you using. If it is IPsec then go to "IPSecurity Policies" (eg: in Local Policies mmc). Then,... is a lot indeed about, but you will make an image about the flexibility of such a solution.

If you are using PPTP, then, in RRAS you can see if you go on your tunnel interface, on properties, you have filters. Gia Betiu
