I having been working with this VPN set up for far too long. I have a series of routers set up in my apartment. My gateway for the Roadrunner connection is the BEFSX41 because it is a simplied firewall. That router connects to the BEFVP41 which I want the VPN clients to connect to. I can't seem to get it to work with with the BEFVP41. Do I have to forward a certain port from the BEFSX41 to the BEFVP41 in order for the BEFVP41 to connect the tunnels? I am using SSH Sentinel version 1.3.2 as the client. Thanks!

So the BEFVP41 is behind the BEFSX41? Are you trying to then connect outbound via the BEVP41 through the BEFSX41?

Depending on what you are trying to do, I can offer the following:

There is an IPSec and PPTP passthrough option on the Linksys devices. Don't know quite how far that will get you.

IPSec uses UDP port 500 and IP protocols 50 (ESP) and 51 (AH). I know you can do port forwarding, don't know how this would work with ESP and AH though.

PPTP uses TCP port 1723 and IP protocol 47 (GRE).

If this isn't new info. I apologize.

When I am at a remote site, I need to connect to the BEFVP41 from that remote site. I thought I had all the port / protocols forwarded on the BEFSX41, but they were not going thru to the BEFVP41. So I created a tunnel on the BEFSX41 and was able to connect. Just trying to see if this is even possible to have it pass from the SX41 to the VP41 for VPN connection requests.

This might be too big for my feeble mind to logic through. I think I would need the equipment to fiddle with on this one. Linksys doesn't offer much in the way of flexibility so I don't know if you could get this to work or not.

I use the BEFSR41. I don't have the VPN equip. :(
