my windows xp home machine freezes with tyrint to auth. to the vpn server. this only occurs when i'm coming in from an ouside source, and suggestions?

Any error messages or event logs generated on your machine or the server you are connecting to (if you have access to that)?

sorry i am a newbie to vpn's is the event logs located/generated in the same location as the rest of them?? I'm running a windows 2k server, and the client is windows xp home. I think it may have something to do with the router. almost tempted to by pass it to test. thanks for your time and thoughts.

On your home pc, you can right click on My Computer and then left click on Manage. Expand System Tools, then Event Viewer. Check your logs (should be under Application) and look for any errors related to your PPTP connection. It shouldn't just freeze though, it should give you an immediate error, or timeout.

Is there someone on the server side to help you troubleshoot this?

i am the only person on both sides, i am trying to get this to work as part of my school project, were we have to make a complete working network. I get error 721, after it mentions that it has been disconnected. I don'tunderstand why it would work inside the lan, and then cause problems when tyring to use it as it's inteded from outside. Thanks again.
