VPN Error 733

I am trying to get to grips with the VPN capabilities of Window 2k and XP.

I have a LAN with 2 XP pro, 1 2K Pro and 1 98. LAN works fine.

I used the wizards provided to create an server and client connections on 1 XP and one 2k machine.

I can connect from the XP to the 2K and from the 2k to itself (silly scenario but just testing) no problem. I cannot connect from the 2K to the XP, get error ‘733 Your computer and the remote computer could not agree on PPP control protocols’. I get the same error connecting the XP to itself.

The settings seem to be identical. Can anyone help?

Found out the problem myself.

The vpn was assigning an IP to the client that already existed on the LAN. Dup IP, BAD thing.

So I set the IP range to allocate from 10.0.0.0 to 10.0.0.10. To do this, goto to the 'Incoming Connections' properties Networking tab then select then TCP/IP protocol and click the propoties button.
