VPN - drop outs

We are running Win2000 server and have remote sites using WIN nt4.0 server, they are using vpn connection to connect to our server to gain email, the vpn drops out, yet when you check the connection it still shows vpn is connected.???,
Generates no logs saying any errors but you cant communicate - need some pointers on where start looking.

That could a number of things... Do you have a VPN concentrator??? We had a similar problem with ours?? Ended up being an DNS issue and our Proxy Setting???? Are you coming in on a VPN Client??? If so, you will need to make sure the dialup settings have the proxy detail... Give me some more detail on your setup???

we are not using a VPN concentrator, this used to work ok, pre us upgrading from NT 4.0 to WINDOWS 2000 active directory.

Perhaps we should invest in a managed VPN via a telecom company?
