I have 2 WRV54G wireless VPN router.
1 has fix IP, another one is running PPPoE
I register a dyndns.org and let them connect by VPN.
it success to connect 2 subnet but it will drop the connection suddenly in few minutes.
In the admin web page, it show the VPN is still connected. and I sure the IP for PPPoE has not changed during the disconnection.
it seems the VPN is very unstable....

anyone have this experience?

You are likely using DHCP on one or both ends:

If you have a DSL or Cable Internet connection and the VPN Client disconnects after working for an extended period and you then lose the Internet connection, it may be that the device in use as the broadband router (e.g. Linksys, Westell 2100) has a DHCP server configured as the default LAN configuration.

The computer can be set to have a static IP address rather than use DHCP. Alternatively, you may keep the computer as a DHCP client but make the following change to the VPN Client configuration to resolve this problem:

Launch the VPN client.
Click on the VPN connection in use on the General tab and click the Edit button.
Click on the Advanced button.
Check the bottom box labeled "Exclude DHCP (bootp) from Tunnel". NOTE: It is recommended to check this box for ANY machine that is set for DHCP.

I am sorry WRV54G dont have the "Exclude DHCP (bootp) from Tunnel". function....

and We cannot live without DHCP.... so that 2 sites also have DHCP machine...
1 is from the WRV54G another site is from a windows server

I will try disable the DHCP with WRV54G and see if it will still have disconnect.

so or another way I can prevent from disconnect?

I am using a WRV54G (host) and a WRT54G (client) and use the Linksys QuickVPN to connect as client. In my case it requires that I lower my Windows firewall to make it work. Also, I could not make it stable until I installed the Linksys beta firmware, 2.38. One more thing, I am running dynamic IP on the client (local and WAN), but I have to run static IP on the WAN for the host (WRV54G). The dynamic IP works for local addressing on both just fine.
