Hi all
i am trying to setup a new VPN connection, the server is NT4 server running SP6a with a broadband connection running through a Watchguard firebox 1000, i have installed the MS ppt protocol and configured RAS server for this connection, i have opened up ports 1723 and 47 (GRE) on the Firebox and natted this connection through to the NT server, the problem i am having is that when i try to connect to the server from the remote machine, the remote machine connects and tries to verify the user, but when i check out the RAS admin on the server all it says is that its trying to initialize the modem (i am not using a modem and do not have one installed on the server)is there a problem using nat with vpn or has any one had any similar problems.

Are you authenticating at the FB or the NT server?

You can allow the FB to do the authentication using NT credentials. Better to allow this to occur at the perimeter of your network than inside.

its sorted thanks, i allowed the firebox to do the the work as you said.

Thanks any way
