Hello all,
first of all, I'm no comms expert. But if anyone out there is trying to use VPN on the Greatspeed GS-R250S Duo ADSL Router, this may be helpful to know.
I recently bought the above product very cheap from my local ISP in order to connect my home PC plus my work laptop simultaneously, using VPN to my employer's network.
The Client we use for VPN is the Nortel Network's EAC 415
Basically, the VPN would not work with the router. Searching the net for answers, I found this forum and found that a lot of people out there have had similar problems with similar products although no one had exactly my configuration, it seemed. So, I emailed the manufacturer to ask how I could do this.
The reply was not hopeful 'Sorry sir, the product does not support IPSEC tunnelling!'. But then, a few minutes later, the same guy replied again and said he had talked to their developer and he was willing to look into the matter. A few days later I received a firmware update file in an email which I have now tested and it does work. Presumably, this will be made available in due time, so if you do have this problem, contact Greatspeed.
All the best,
ZapSimnet
