I have 1 desktop that is hard wired to the router and 2 wireless laptops in my home network. All are using XP Home. I have a D-Link DI524 wireless router and a Motorola SB4100 cable modem that I am trying to make a vpn connection through. I was successfully using this connection to connect to my work computer from home. We had to reset the outlet that all the computers are plugged into and from then on I have had this problem. I have called all product tech support and no one can tell me how to fix this. When I try to make the connection to our work server, it tries but then gives me the error 800 box. I know the connection works because others are using it from their homes so it isn't a server configuration, it has to be something in my configuration. I have even connected another DI524 router that I know was working in someone else's home to my wireless laptop hoping it would work but didn't. When I research error 800 - the research tells me to upgrade the firmware. I have done that and nothing happens. Does anyone have any suggestions?

My initial thought is upgrading the firmware. since you already did, have you reset the router? Also, can you telnet vpn port?

I did reset the router but no change. I'm sorry for my lack of knowledge but I'm not sure what you mean by telnet vpn port.

I had the same issue with a DI524. I had to open up the ports required for the VPN on both the DI524 and on the internet provider's connection device. In my case there was a GUI to get at the speedstream (DSL) modem and open things up. I also turned off the firewall on the ISP provided device and am only using the firewall on the DI and the build in winblows firewall.
