Please read through all to help me I will try to add everything you need (that I know of!). Ok, here goes:
1. I have a vpn so I can connect offsite for work. This is on a comp running win7
2. Every day when I first boot up and logon I get two error popups (see image). Ignore them, continue to enter my password, then get an “internal error, shutting down”
3. I then restart my computer, logon again, get the same bridge and tcpt popups, enter my password and have no trouble connecting.
This is almost without fail. Maybe twice a month I can actually logon first try, first computer boot.
OK, here is why I say I ignore the popups. We (me, IT guy at work AND the Corente guy) have troubleshooted every possible thing we can.
We have changed every possible setting in VPN Client
Changed/disabled any unnecessary startup programs, services. I have exhausted all combinations I can come up with
Switched VPN Client from Automatic startup to Manual.
I have a home network between an XP machine and a Win7 so at one point thought that might be it. I installed and tried the VPN client on the XP machine and even on an unrelated Laptop with similar results (however, all these machines are connected to my DSL modem via a hub switch).
IT guy says that he has not had this problem with any of the other users and the ONLY thing that is different is that I have a home network. HOWEVER…when my main machine (XP) is not even turned on, I get the same result so the home network does not seem to come into play AND why does it work just fine after a restart?? What can POSSIBLY happen between the two that allows this to connect?
We have sent the logs to the VPN Client IT guys and after a few looks from them they are baffled and suggest I send my computer down to offsite location and have OS reinstalled and use a temporary computer for work. Not gonna happen! Too inconvenient and time consuming for me.
Oh, we have also uninstalled/reinstalled the vpn client software/profile a couple times w/no change (complete uninstall – registry). All is up to date. It is a most baffling scenario and although I can always get it to connect after my restart it is a real pain in the butt!
For what it is worth, the Win7 runs Symantec AV and WinXP runs AVG Firewall and AV. Considering the ultimate outcome We doubt this has anything to do with it.
