If anyone can help, it would be greatly appreciated.

I am running XP PRO and I am trying to run a VPN from behind linksys router. I was able to access a friend's XP box that was setup to allow VPN connections. I saw his shared folders and printers. I brought up IE and put in his PC's name and I saw all of his shared resources (printers, folders, drives). I then mapped those drives and I was able to access them. Some of my issues include: can I use
\\computername/printers to access the printer and download the appropriate drivers if need be.

Secondly, when I run the server ipconfig /all shows 2 adapters, the PPTP/RAS and the NIC. Because the PC is behind the router using DCHP, it had an ip address of 192.168.1.100. When the VPN connection was made, the client's ip was 192.168.1.100 and my IP address changed to 192.168.1.102. I then proceeded to disconnect the VPN and remove it. It is no longer installed. How can I setup my system so that when the incoming VPN connection is made the ip address that is assigned to the client will not conflict with the DHCP address assigned to my PC by the router. In addition I am planning to connect other PCs to my lan behind the router. When I configure those PCs to have their files/folders/drives shared across the network on the lan, is it possible for those files/folders/drives be accessible over the VPN connection. I am curious b/c I would like to spread the shared devices/resources across multiple machines to distribute the bandwith load. It appears that sharing a drive, printer and other resources off the same PC would be stressing and leave it unable to used for any other purpose.

Please Advise. Thanks

The server I have running my VPN has a small static range to hand out to clients. It is possible to map and use shared files and folders thru your VPN tunnel. I really have no idea though about the load sharing, sorry... Matt Wray
