I just read in “Configuring Settings on the Cisco Unified IP Phone” and found out that The VPN Client feature is supported only for the Cisco Unified IP Phone 7942G, 7945G, 7962G, 7965G, and 7975G.

We are currently using UCM 6.1 with Cisco Unified IP Phone 7945G and 7965G.

I cannot find the VPN client option on my phone. I have upgraded the firmware to SCCP45.8-5-4S.

I check it at “You can access the VPN Configuration settings by pressing the Settings button and choosing Security Configuration > VPN Configuration” and there is no VPN Configuration option.

In the Security Configuration > after “802.1X Authentication Status” option, it is IPv6 CAPF Server.

Is there anything that I have to do in UCM or the phone so the VPN Configuration will show up and I can configure it?

Thanks,

sienz

YOu need call manager 8.0 per the doc you linked.
You said you have 6.1 so you will need an upgrade.

I just get so excited about this feature. I guess I need to start upgrading our UCM.

Fyi, I upgraded my firmware to SCCP45.9-0-2SR1S from SCCP45.8-5-4S and the VPN Configuration shows up under the Security Configuration.

But the soft key to enable is grey out. So probably it will need UCM 8.0 to activate the VPN enable soft key

May I ask you the steps to upgrade the IOS of the phone. I am trying to do the same thing you did and I have UCM 7

Thanks!
