okay here is my situation.

I have a win98 VPN client connecting via the internet to a win2000 VPN server. The server is in a offsite facility and is on a different subnet then the rest of my equipment, I have the routes setup and the client connects to the VPN server, however once they connect, they can't connect to the internet. They can connect to all network resources without any problems. I enabled split tunneling and they could then connect to the internet but not to my network resources. my network resources are entirely on another subnet from the VPN server. I have the VPN server to issue IP addresses. I attempted to set the internal nic (the nic that VPN created) to default route out to the internet via the card that is plugged into the internet, but that makes it so my VPN client can not connect, and it doesn't fix the problem either. Please point me in the right direction

is the ip address your client is getting on the same subnet as the VPN server? what are your DNS settings on the VPN connection? can you ping internal and internet IP addresses?

actually i figured it out. our VPN server exists nat'd behind a firewall and the firewall type (nokia) requires that you list the topology of the network directly behind the firewall, we simply had to add the vpn addy's to the network so that the firewall knew that to expect traffic comming in on that port, because it could go out fine, it just wouldn't come back in.
