I have vpn client loaded and set up a my desktop and laptop. My desktop client works great, but my laptop seems to have major problems. I have tried uninstalling/reinstalling vpn client 4.0.3(A) with no resolve. Specifically when i launch vpn client the connection window comes up and the client attempts to initialize IPSec link. And this is as far as it gets. Nothing happens afterward. Looking at the logs the following is displayed:
Cisco Systems VPN Client Version 4.0.3 (A)
Copyright (C) 1998-2003 Cisco Systems, Inc. All Rights Reserved.
Client Type(s): Windows, WinNT
Running on: 5.1.2600
1 13:26:16.914 11/10/03 Sev=Critical/1 CM/0xE3100004
Failed to initialize the ipsec driver! Returned 1
If i try to disconnect/cancel connection the display window just returns msg: Disconnecting IPSec link... and nothing happens. I have to manually shut down vpngui.exe in the task manager as it will not shut down on its own. I believe this (unable to disconnect) happens as a result of the IPSec link not being initialized, but i cannot know for sure. Anyone have any suggestions? (hardware specs below)
thx
Mike
