Hello

We have 2 sites with ADSL at both ends and well as IP Office 403's. There is an IPSEC tunnel between the 2 routers linking the 403's so at each end they are extensions of each other. But after every 7 days we loose the connection between the 2 sites, where one site can sends and recieves packets, but the other side can only send but not recieve.

This always happens after 7 days, but we still can not find away around this. We have asked Avaya but as yet they have not come back to us.

Cheers for any help guys.

What is the MTU on the Adsl routers ?? try changing to something like 1492

We made some changes to the phone system and then at the end of the day we put the original configs back on and the link came back up straight away. The VPN'S come back up straight away but the phone systems seem to loose eachother.

An ideas, would RIP help?

cheers

This is a problem I have also encountered the same problem with more than one customer. The only solution that I have came up with, "no thanks to Avaya" is using a script that I wrote that will reboot the systems that are linked on whatever day and whatever time you specify automatically on a schedule you define.

If rebooting helps your problem,

then let me know and I will give you the program I wrote upon request for free.

Cheers Painstain

Rebooting does not seem to help as it does not find the link again to the other phone system. But if you could send us the Script that would be great and worth a go.

cheers

Hi Pant Stains I would be interested in the reboot program, can u send to me please

We have a similar issue to this - IPO 403 at site 1 - small office at site 2. Following the monitor traces at both ends we have been using the AVRIP send / receive results as an indication of the voice networking being successful. Besides the link dropping experience - we now find it very difficult to get the link back up at all.
One very strange observation on the monitor trace was that the Small office does not show as sending AVRIPS. However when the VPN tunnel is down it suddenly starts sending AVRIPs... Bring back up the tunnel, it stops.

Any ideas - panstain would your program help here??

thanks in advance.

you should try staticing the public IPs from the ISP, and using these between the two sites. That way you have a two way initiating tunnel, as well you will never have to renew IP via DHCP. So now your tunnel will not drop unless you have a bad hardware, or internet connection.

we are still struggling on with this one. At the weekend we deleted just about everything IP routing and put it all back in.
We added a blank IP route to also point to the default gateway router. This brough the link up.
So is the IP Office sending packets that it's own routing tables cannot read the address for? Thus the need to instruct the IP Office to send unknown data to the router?

This would make it impossible to do multiple sites using more than one router. I am very confused.

One other change was that our monitor traces now show different information - the AVRIP send and receive data counts fully up to eleven and then stops, but the link remains. It looks better, does anyone know the relevance of any of this - and where our problem may lie??
