I have a requirement to set up a VPN configuration on our W2K server which stores our SQL data. I have never set up a VPN before and would like guidance/information.

I would like to know if it is possible to configure a connection through a go between computer that acts as a "buffer" (added security ?) before connecting to our Windows 2000 server.

Is it needed or can the connection simply go to the server?

Thank you...

The keys here is opening the necessary ports. For PPTP, make sure to open the IP protocol port 47 and TCP port 1723.

This how to may help,
