Hello Guys,
I have a customer who has a Windows 2003 server and 3 PC's at the main site that are working fine. They have a satellite site that has one PC. I have configured VPN over the internet and the connection works just fine. The only way I can access the shared folders is if I go to the RUN box and key in \\servername and then I can see the shares. I was hoping that VPN would be like a long CAT-5 cable. The reason that I wanted this to occur is then PC would be on the domain and then participate in all Windows security. I then could use TrendMicro on the satellite PC and share drives between the satellite and main site. Am I barking up the wrong tree or is my configuration just out of whack?

Thanks,

Joe

If you join the domain, then I think you can check the box on the login dialog that says "Use a dialup connection" or something like that. Then the VPN is established before logging in and the domain is available.

I'm assuming that you just using Windows VPN for this. If you have a site-site VPN then you would be right- it's almost like a long LAN connection.
