Hi,
I am having trouble with tgetting this system set-up and would appreciate a few pointers. I don't need step by step (although if links exists, would be useful for comparison).
I am attempting to setup a SNMP Monitoring System. I have several networks over a wider area.
Each network has one (or more) specific devices I would like to monitor. Each device has a static IP and kicks out SNMP. The devices only do that, i.e. monitoring cards, so cannot install anything else on them. But is connected to a server via the local network (typically running Win 2008).
On the system I want to monitor, I have a Win 2008 Server, and another machine with the monitorin software. What I want to do is set-up a VPN connection that shares data from ONLY this device on the target network. i.e. I do not want either end to see anything beyond the SNMP device or monitoring server.
I have tried to with a full blown VPN, i.e. RDP and whilst that works, relies on a desktop system to be set-up and forwarding. I would like to make this as simple as pos. but just can't get Windows to do it.
Any pointers on what I need to do with the VPN either end to achieve this? I am starting from scratch if that's any help. I am assuming that setting up a sep. subnet for the SNMP devices would also help.
