For some reason I can not get my wife’s or any computer at home to log into her computer at her job. VPN connects fine, but Remote desktop will not.

Her wireless would not work, so I did a clean install of OS and all updates. It still did not work, turned out the router was not working, or the wireless part of it was not, I had to replace it.

Now before all this her vpn and RDT worked fine, but she was hard wired to old router. I replaced replaced the old access point with WRT54GS router , the wireless worked right away. I have compared settings and upgraded the firmware.

I can access my computer here at work, from her workstation, and my computer at home then access her computer from my workstation with no problem, via her wireless connection.

So I am lost, none of the systems at home will remote into her desktop, but the vpn client hooks fine. I am sure I am using the right user name and pass word for her workstation.

I can only assume it has to do with the router settings, but I can not find any difference.

None of my computers at home will connect with the remote, they will only connect the vpn.

Incase, you are wondering I have done this before with little or no issue or problem. But I am stumped. I have changed out the router and still the same result.
All firmware has been upgraded, and have tried every setting I can find...

Any ideas?

To make sure that I am following correctly.... Are you trying to make the RD connection through the working VPN tunnel? Are sure the VPN tunnel is working properly?

I'm having trouble digesting this
I can access my computer here at work, from her workstation, and my computer at home then access her computer from my workstation with no problem, via her wireless connection.
Does this mean that RD from home does work to a different machine in the same remote office?

Are you trying to make the RD connection by [private]IP address or computer name? Is there a software firewall (including something that might have come with antivirus software) on the remote computer?
