Question...

ASA 5510 with VPN setup. currently everything is working fine. I just have a question about how to access the local servers once connected to the VPN.

what's the best practice for letting VPN users access there files on local servers within the network?

once connected to the VPN network, my network places will not let them access the domain. they can see the domain but when they double click on it they get an error message about not have permissions.

I really don't want to start setting up remote desktop to the server.

can someone tell me the correct way to grant access once connected to the VPN.

any help would be appreciated

Are they computers that are in the domain or just outside people that have unmanaged pcs?

Map the resources in their host file and give them links. That has been the easiest. It will force them to log on with domain credentials when they try to access the servers.

I set up restricted groups of vpn users and only let them get to the resources they need. (restriction by server and port)

they are computer outside trying to view files inside. where is there host file? how would I edit that? sorry for the basic questions.

thanks for your help

C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts

Just follow the format for the file and add the internal IPs and the host names.
