Hi,

I am connected to the NET with a Cable Modem and connect to my Office VPN from my home. The problem is that when I am connected to the Office VPN, I no longer have net access on my local PC. why is this so and how can I resolve this ?

When I do an IPCONFIG, heres the output:

C:\>ipconfig

Windows IP Configuration:

Ethernet WireLess LAN Adapter

DNS Suffix. : netcabo.pt
IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . : 61.139.16.118
Máscara de sub-rede . . . . . . . : 255.255.254.0
Gateway . . . . . . . : 63.132.173.254

Adaptor PPP ABCD:

DNS Suffix. :
IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . : 10.50.10.192
Máscara de sub-rede . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.255
Gateway . . . . . . . : 10.50.10.192

TIA,

The point to a VPN (from the organization's point of view) is to have a secure channel from mobile computers INSIDE the prganization's outer defenses. For this to be secure, the remote device must not be a gateway for the world to get in the organization's private network, so it is important to them to lock down all other networking activity before allowing you in.

While there is no technical reason you cannot VPN and have local access, no sane organization with ANY private data (payroll?) on a computer network will have a policy that allows this.

In a situation where the only data that is private belongs to the mobile workforce (independant contractors, say) you could have a VPN that allowed local access as well, it is not a technical problem.

I tried to remain child-like, all I acheived was childish.
