VPN and Firewall, Connecting but fails to authenticate

Basicly my VPN times out when it gets to the Authentication stage. It's behind a Firewall and I've been able to get to the server because it says connecting, and then Verifying Username and Password but that's it.
Are there some extra ports, or protocols that are blocked.
