I have Bell South ADSL service on my Windows 98 Laptop in my home office. It is using my network card to connect through software called EnterNet 300. When I attempt to use VPN to dial in to my network and desktop at the office, my system hangs up. Does anyone have a work around for this conflict with my Ethernet card?

Hmm I have a user here at the office using DSL. Ill ask him what I am about to ask you to validate. Why does it matter what software is running for the NIC? You should just define the VPN server, TCP/IP Properties, and security if any and log away. Also when you say desktop, Are you logging ok to the VPN server, (able to check mail, browse the network?) and then trying to access your box through a share and then it disconnects you? Details please!!

I have defined the VPN server, TCP/IP Properties, etc. just like you normally would, but cannot even log on to VPN. The attempt to log on to VPN hangs the system and I have to reboot. I called Bell South and they told me there is a conflict because of the NIC. The support guy told me that he knows that there is a work around but they don't support it.

Hmmmm. Id tell em to hhmm oh well ill not say hehe. Ok this goes a bit to the hands on side now, and I am swamped. Ill will ask you this for now.

1. Are you using a Docking Station, if so is there a built in NIC? and what is the make and model.

2. How many PCMCIA cards are in the laptop? These are the little credit card looking devices that at least one of your connections is plugged into. I need Make and Model of these as well.

3. I assume your Netbios name is something your DSL company assigned you, but have you set the workgroup name to your company domain? Also set your Client for MS Networking to logon to this domain as well.

4. Do you have remote access permissions on the domain in question?

Please dont feel I am asking the obvious, it just helps to cover the basics. If I have missed anything Ill think of it later.
