Hi,
The company I work for has put Pronto, a program we use, on my laptop so that i can do some data input. They have also installed SonicWall Global VPN client. Unfortunately though, once the vpn connects, Pronto says that there is not a secure tcp/ip on my machine. Im assuming that there is a problem with the settings on my router but im unsure of what needs to be changed and whether its in relation to port forwarding etc...
I would normally contact my workplace but it is a long weekend, and i was really hoping to get some of this work done!
My modem/router is an open iconnect access 621 and i am running windows XP.

Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thankyou in advance!!!
Megan

Could you post the exact wording of the error message?

Although I'm not familiar with your particular router, it's possible it is not configured for "VPN Pass-through".

The regular login states:
"Connection failed! Secure TCP/IP may not be available on this machine/port."
I dont know if this helps but the unix login which states it is terminal mode and is for technical support use gives this message:
"Unable to connect to remote host (error=10060)"

Thanks for your help!

Oh, it is the program Pronto that is giving the error?

Are you sure the VPN is connecting properly?
Try this:
1. Make the VPN connection
2. Before trying to use Pronto, test connectivity to the server that Pronto is trying to reach. Pinging the ip address is the easiest way to test.

Post back here and let me know.

If you can't ping the server, then you need to get a hold of your IT folks.

yeah 100% packet loss...
thing is they connected my laptop up to the network via ethernet cable and it worked AND they also connected it via 56k modem and it also worked...
very frustrating, i was hoping to get the work done by tuesday but i guess ill have to wait and talk to IT huh?

Unfortunately, it looks that way.
Sorry we couldn't get it working.
