Does anyone know how to map a vpath to a specific logical volume, please?

ESS?

A vpath should be associated with a vg, which would be associated to the lv. If you're using ESS try "lsvpcfg" and you should see this.

Thats correct vpaths belong to a VG. When you use smitty to define the LV move the cursor to PHYSICAL VOLUME names and hit F4 it will display all vpaths associated with the VG, you can then select with one you want the LV to reside on. Hope this helps.

please specify your question correctly , coz in my understanding you are referring to POWER5 AIX 5.3 mapping to vhost and LV.. am i right? if this is the case

just use the command.
# mkvdev command
