I am trying to install the above card in a compaq deskpro celeron466, the machine does not boot at all with the card in(the keyboard lights come on and stay on) but no screen, when I revert to the prvious graphics card(a voodoo 3000) it works fine, although I get a message from the compaq BIOS advising me that a PCI card had failed to install properly, the only options I can find that I believe are relevant are the PCI IRQ settings, I have tried every combination I can think off including disabling the VGA IRQ but to no avail, the card works fine in my pentium II 400, so I know it is not it

Any suggestions and advice would be welcomed

Cheers

Sniptub,

i think this is an AGP problem. Your motherboard supports a certain AGP speed. There are 1x, 2x and 4x AGP. When the graphics card requires a higher speeds than the motherboard supports it doesnt work and the screen will remain blank. Check what speed the graphics card requires and what your motherboard supports. If the graphics card requires more, there are some tricks you can do. Sometimes you have to "remove" something from the motherboard which prohibits the motherboard from supporting these cards, but you can also use ducttape on the graphics card on two of the pins. With my graphics card it were the last two pins (one on either side), but i don't know if that's the same on all the cards. You should contact your graphics card and motherboard manufacturer and ask them what is the best solution. In many cases you motherboard manufacturer has the answer. Wouter

Wouter, Thanks I have gone to the Compaq forums and there appears to be a whole range of issues with the model and various graphic cards so I have posted there, will see what happens
