Hi all ,

I am facing a strange problem for last 2 days.
I have a 40GB hard disk with 2 gb of dos 6.22 partition and
remaining disk is used as netware partiotion with equal 3 volumes of approx 12.6 GB. server running on Intel PIII with 128 MB ram. and with 10 mpbs PCI lan card.

The problem is All of sudden all the volumes get dismounted. But there is no error on server console or on user nodes. I dont know whats happening but I hv to give down and exit command and the again restart server. this happens many times in a day.

Waht could be problem ? can any one guess and suggest ?

HI.

I have no idea what is the cause, but I suggest that you login as supervisor and check all log files on the SYS and other volumes.

If I remember correctly, you should look at the root for:
VOL$LOG.ERR
TTS$LOG.ERR
and also for
SYSTEM\SYS$LOG.ERR

It is also recommended to run VREPAIR .

I suggest changing the SUPERVISOR and RCONSOLE passwords (oops, isn't it the same in NW3?), maybe someone is hacking?

It sounds like you are kinda stuck... If the Volumes are dismounting, the Server is unable to write any of the issues that are happening, to any of the Error Logs.

Take a look at your Storage Driver versions, as well as maybe running some tests against your Controller.

Good Luck!

Hi All,

salserocito is right.
I am getting error that says as could not write errror logs.
I dont know what to do. I already run vrepair but no sucess.
I will check controller as salserocito has mentioned.

I am using isadisk.dsk cause that supports over 8 gb hard disk. I had earlier tried using ide.dsk but it was not supoortin big hdd. The server was running quite nice for some 3 /4 months after new hard disk was used. prior to that there was 20gb hard disk. but it had some problem with media so I changed it to 40 gb. now thi problem has arrised.

Any more suggesions wold be of great help.

thanks. From:

After the volumes have automatically dis-mounted, are your .DSK drivers still loaded, or have they unloaded also?

Please advise.
