Interesting problem I'm having. I have Volume Shadow Copies setup on one of our Windows 2012 servers. I've set it up to limit volume copies to 300G of storage, of which, it's only currently using 136G. But here's the problem, the shadow copies available are only back a few days (a week or little more).

From what I can tell, assuming I haven't hit the usage limit, I should be able to have 64 shadow copies. Any idea why I'm getting so few copies available?

I can't find any errors in the event logs or anything using the vssadmin command line tools. I'm at a loss as to why I'm unable to store more copies.

Set the shadow copy schedule in the properties of the disk drive.

I hope that helps.

Regards,

Mark
