i have just finished a build of AIX5.3 and i have been asked to create a new volume group, what is the recomended Physical Partition Size for doing this?

Just leave it at default

I was told last week that with AIX 5.3 there is no longer a maximum for the number of physical partitions in a volume group.

I have not had a chance to confirm this rumour but if true you may waste less space when setting up a number of small Logical Volumes/Filesystems

Anyone confirm

5.3 as follows

VGType, Max PVs, Max LVs, Max PP per VG, Max PP size
Normal VG, 32 , 256 , 32512 , 1 GB
Big VG , 128 , 512 , 130,048 , 1 GB
Scalable , 1024 , 4096 , 2,097,152 , 128 GB
