Hi Guys we have an IP Office 403 and using the IP 4606 phones the problem we have is that the quality of the calls is poor the call fades and comes back again and sometimnes drops. Any suggestions would be appreciated

Thanks

GAJH

I take it your 4606 is pluged into a switch port? if you are connecting to the IPO via a LAN

Or

Are you connecting via a WAN router etc with a remote office? in this case how are you doing QOS? If you cannot answer this then thats why you have a problem.

[cheers]

They are connected to a switch on a local LAN, it seems it is only incomming calls that have the problem

Try setting the Codec on the port to G711 it may be on auto at the moment and that some times users G729 which dosn't sound as good

[cheers]

Thanks for the tip but there are two options ALAW or ULAW I dont kow the difference cn you point me in the right direction. Thanks GAJH

Also need to know if the network supports QOS,are you using managed switches? are you using frame , dsl, wireless??? How big is the link? What other data is being sent?Geese, I'm starting to sound like Lyndon

Well not quite US only, we use it here in Canada also. It's for North America.
