I have managed to get a BCM 50 networked via VoIP to a CS1000. Where I am confused is over numbering.

The CS1000 uses 4 digit numbering, and the BCM 50 three digit.

So on the BCM under Dialing plan -> Private network I have set the received number length to 3, private network type to CPP private network ID to 1 and Private DN length to 3 However this means I can call fromt he BCM to the CS1000 - it expects one digit less. I find that if I change the received number length to 4 it works but then I cant define 3 digit received numbers against target lines.

I am confused why the received number length affects the number of digits I can dial....

I think you should be able to have a 4 digit number listed on the target line even though your Dns on the BCM are three. You assign target lines just like POTS lines to phones so I think it will work. The target line doesn't care what the DN on the phone is, it's just told to appear, ring or both on that phone.

If that doesn't work here is an idea. This is a theory so I am not sure if this will work or not. If you have to have it set to 4 digits then try this. On your target line put the 4 digit number that the Cs1000 is sening in your public/private recieved number fields. Then on the redirect field enter the 3 digit extension you want to send the call too

Part of the problem is when I have Received number length (in private networking) set to 4 I can set private OLI from the BCM as a 3 digit number. If the received number length isn't 4 then I can't dial from a BCM 50 to the Cs1000 as it will stop after 3 digits have been dialled and give me an invalid # format message on the set display.

I don't see the connection between received number length (as it refers to an incoming call) and a call originating from the BCM.

Enter 4 digits for the private OLI and make it the same as the extn number. extn 4001-- Private OLI 4001---Private Recieve 4001..Do the same for each extn.

Also in Private Network set the "Private DN lenght" to 4.
This is to allow the BCM to send 4 digits to the other switch..IT may be set at 3
