My users are experiencing issues with echos when making calls on an IP phone. We are also having a problem when dialing an 800 number. When you are given the option to choose 1, 2 or 3 etc., you can hear the tone, but it does not register on the phone and you have to hang up and call back sometimes up to four times before being able to select the option you want.

Has anyone experienced these issues? Any Ideas?

Thanks in advance for your help!

We used to have echo problems so i upgraded my DS1's to TN2464's. On these cards you can play about with echo cancellation. There is an Avaya pdf that goes through echo cancellation configuration.

you also need to check the firmware of the ip phones do a list reg on the definity. There is a issue with firmware 2.2 so you need to upgrade if thats what the phones are running

Did you have TN464 before you upgraded? The TN464 has the echo cancellation option right? Did this resolve the problem completely?

Thanks for your feedback

I did a list reg and all I got was a list of IP extensions, is there another way to figure out what firmware I am running?

We did have the TN464 before and moving to TN2464's and adjusting the settings resolved all our echo issues. When you do the list reg command you should see a field called "Prod Rel", this is the firmware the phones are running.
