VOIP HELP

Can some please tell me more about VOIP, how I get it setup, how are phones configured, do we still use a TN or does IP replace it, etc.

Look at my response in the Norstar Forum. VoIP is normally used simply for TOLLBYPASS purposes or to transport voice over data networks - " convergeance." Are you looking to do Trunking or Set based IP? The Meridian Options can do either. You first need to purchase and install a signaling processor for IP. Once you have the added/new signaling processor installed, you need to buy and install IP station licenses, and then you're on your way.

You need IP phone licenses which use virtual TN's. You will also need signalling servers or IP line cards and the appropriate system software.

Your LAN/WAN infrastructure will need QoS enabling also.

Thanks for you info, were currently on a 81c version 25.4 which is being upgraded to 4.5 with Fibre CC6 callpilot 4

Just wanted to know abit more about IP.
