Voip Gateway Question

I'm looking into getting the Voip gatways for my company but I'm not sure how much bandwidth I should have. Currently I have 4 sites all with 756k T-1's connected to my location by VPN. Is this enough or should I bring them up to full T-1's. Also can someone point me to a place I can download it. Thanks

768k should be more than ok for 4 calls ...
BUT
the network (switch > router > router > switch) must be able to priortize voice calls over data traffic.
It also depends if you have a CIR between the 2 locations

It is better to do some engineering with the vendor intially ... rather than blame the product/network later on

Basically 2 calls per 64K(T1 channel) is the standard compression. Like senk1s said it's only 4 voice ports, so the bandwidth is only 128K or so.

If you are using frame I suggest setting up a separate PVC for the voice calls, it will save you having to upgrade the IOS on your routers and configuring them for DifServ traffic.

You might want to also investigate using DSL on each site for your VOIP.cheap way of getting 1.5 megs up and 700-500 kbs down.You would need to check with a DSL provider for the bandwith .I think most DSL providers cheapest package is within these ranges.Most VOIP calls need at least 32 kb for decent quailty conversation.I would agree with the posts above if you decide to use your current bandwith get it engineered for best results.Voip is still a emerging technology with some promblems.Its works basiclly as good as a cell phone. It also depends on the equiptment.

At the end of the month 3 of the sites are going to full T-1's so i've got plenty of bandwidth. And I'm not real big on DSL.
